As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been on in a while, and won't be on for a while longer. My Laptops 'broken' and won't be able to get on. It could be gone for 1-3 weeks, just thought I'd let you all know.

Hillsborough
Tomorrow (15th April) it is the 20th Anniversary of Hillsborough. If you do not know what it is or much about it, read here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7988434.stm
To sum it up, 96 people were killed in a crush at a football stadium in Sheffield - Hillsborough. It was an FA cup Semi Final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, and despite fears for safety, the match went on. 6 minutes in, a play hit the bar with a shot and the Liverpool fans in Leppings Lane (the stand where the people were killed) lunged forward. This is when it collapsed, and many fans were crushed. This was with the fences round the stand so noone could get out. And also, this wasn't a seated stadium, and this is one of the reasons we have all seaters now.
RIP.

Re: Hillsborough
yea R.I.P
I feel so sorry for those people that died when they just wanted to see a football match, well we have to learn from our mistakes.

Re: Hillsborough
No - it was when everyone would stand up (no seats, or not many), and some people fell, knocking people and crushing them. There was a perimeter fence, so the fans got trapped at the bottom with people falling on top of them.
Worst of all is the press baiting the Liverpool fans, making claims that were seriously untrue.

Re: Hillsborough
I heard about this when watching MOTD.
Didn't know exactly what happened, I was expecting something similar to the Man Utd Munich disaster, but I was so wrong :O

Re: Hillsborough
It's good we have, to be honest. If we'd let it lie, this could have happened again very, very easily.

Re: Hillsborough
the sad hillsborough event. I did my 1 mins silence for those that cant now
For those who dont know what happened, all the liverpool supporters got crushed on the metal fence. 93 people died and everyone else has the trauma of the screams of the dead its a sad day

Re: Hillsborough
Was watching a program on it last night for about 5 mins while waiting for kettle to boil for coffee . There was one professional doctor there, and he had the choice of who to help out of the hundreds hurt, he must have felt so guilty after.

Re: Hillsborough
Terrible.
I'll be doing the minutes silence at 3:06pm, the time when they had to stop the match because people were dying.
